larpFX — Privacy Policy

Overview

      TL;DR: larpFX processes everything locally on your device. We collect zero data. No analytics, no
      tracking, no servers.
    

What We Collect

larpFX does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Period.

No usage analytics or telemetry
No crash reports sent externally
No user identifiers or fingerprinting
No cookies or third-party tracking

Camera & Microphone Access

larpFX accesses your camera and microphone solely for real-time video and audio processing within your browser tab. This includes:

Applying face filters and overlays
Processing voice effects (deep, high, robot, etc.)
Rendering virtual backgrounds
Recording video locally to your device

      All camera and microphone processing happens 100% locally in your browser. No video, audio, or
      images are ever sent to any external server.
    

Data Storage

larpFX uses Chrome's storage API to save your preferences locally:

Selected filter and voice effect settings
Mirror, freeze, and recording preferences
Virtual background and color filter choices

This data is stored on your device and optionally synced across your Chrome profile via Google's built-in Chrome Sync infrastructure. larpFX has no access to or control over this sync process.

Third-Party Services

larpFX does not use any third-party services:

No analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
No advertising networks
No external APIs or CDNs
All code — including the MediaPipe ML model — is bundled locally within the extension

Recording

When you use the recording feature, the video file is saved directly to your device via your browser's download mechanism. No recordings are uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere outside your computer.

larpFX supports three recording modes:

Landscape — Partner video on the left, your video on the right (side-by-side)
Portrait — Partner video on top, your video on the bottom (stacked)
Full Tab — Captures the entire browser tab using the tabCapture API, including page UI, ratings, and chat elements

      Full Tab recording uses Chrome's Tab Capture API to record the entire tab's visual and audio
      content. This is processed entirely on your device — no recording data is uploaded or transmitted externally.
    

Soundboard & Prank Overlays

All built-in sound effects are generated programmatically using the Web Audio API (oscillators, noise generators). No audio files are downloaded from any server.

Prank overlays (FBI Warning, Banned, etc.) are drawn directly on the video canvas. Any fake data shown (IP addresses, locations) is randomly generated and does not reflect actual user information.

Website Access

larpFX requests website access per supported domain only when you click Allow in the popup. It does not run on unrelated websites and cannot access browsing data outside the domains you grant.

Children's Privacy

larpFX does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since we collect no data, material changes are unlikely.
